Here at Vision Photography, most of our mini-sessions occur in the Fall and Winter seasons. We refer to these as our “Walk in the Park” sessions. The term refers to what we strive to accomplish in each session- to bring families to a beautiful location and tell a story. It’s all about the emotion, interaction and the beautiful candid moments.
We offer mini-sessions and our Walk in the Park sessions each year. Many of you know and love these, but some of you may be wondering- just what exactly is a mini-session?
We decided to feature this special blog post just to fill you guys in on what our mini-sessions are all about!
Many people hear the term “mini-session” and are discouraged or may think it wouldn’t be worth their time. Don’t let the name fool you. The photo collage above gives you an idea on just how many pictures are taken within a twenty minute period. It’s truly amazing the amount of special moments and memories can be captured in such a short amount of time.
Check out a couple more collages from some of our most recent Fall and Winter minis to get a better idea of what your next session with Vision could be like.
Our November and December mini-sessions are held at Addison Oaks Tree Farm in Oakland County. It’s such a beautiful and festive location to capture great photos for the holiday season. We still have a few open spots for November 20 and December 4. Hurry and make sure you get your spot booked today!

Jake and Cortney first met around the age of 13 playing kickball, but it wasn’t until Cortney began attending college at Central Michigan University that the two started seriously dating. Jake wasn’t attending CMU with Cortney, but had a close friend he would visit and begun to spend time with Cortney during his trips. When the two became serious, they would take turns driving 2.5 hours just to spend the weekends with each other! How adorable is that?!
We love small wedding parties! It makes the day so much more intimate and special. Jake and Cortney and their wedding party were so fun and easygoing. They even rocked out climbing on this brick building for a pretty fun photo!🙂
Jake and Cortney’s rustic and fall inspired decor was SO beautiful and matched their reception venue so perfectly. We loved the adorable personal pie favors and all of the wooden elements.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Walls! Your day was so fun and we had a blast capturing your special memories!
Ceremony Venue: St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church- Shepherd
Megan and Rob are a super adorable couple who met during their freshman year of college.
I always love when brides switch their accessories up or add in something fun and different. In Megan’s case, her and all of her bridesmaids sported baby blue converses (Rob and his groomsmen wore orange converses as well).
Rob and Megan’s dog is a huge part of their life. I first met these two when I photographed their engagement session at Comerica Park in Detroit and they brought their adorable pooch along to participate in the photos with them. Fun fact: Rob also proposed to Megan at Comerica!).
Reception decor followed their color theme perfectly. Tons of bright orange and baby blue touches filled the room.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Swanson! It was so fun to be a part of your day!
Danny and Kim’s story is very fairytale. The two have been high school sweethearts ever since they met at Chippewa Valley High School in Clinton Township.
Danny and Kim had their ceremony at the beautiful White House Wedding Chapel in Warren. The building has an elegant mansion-esque look and a very vintage and historic vibe to it. It made a perfect ceremony venue.
From the bride on her favorite part of the day:
“My favorite memory from the wedding day was seeing Danny right after I entered the ceremony room. I literally burst into tears the same time that he did. I was just so happy that it was finally happening!!”
Our favorite part of the day was getting to take pictures at the place it all began! We even were able to go inside their old high school and we snapped some photos in the “B” hallway where Danny and Kim first met and would meet up during the school day. SO cute!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Naso! The long-time love you guys share is so adorable! We love your story and loved photographing the day you guys finally got to become husband and wife!
Kara and Joel were a blast to hang out with on their wedding day! The crazy part of their story is that they are both Oakland University alumni and both were part of the school’s Cross Country team….except at different times! They knew they wanted to incorporate the track into their wedding photos and we had so much fun with them on the field! They even had a few of our OU spirited photos published in Oakland’s Alumni Magazine for featuring the campus’s track and field on their day.
From the bride: “I loved being able to take photos on the OU Track because it was such a unique experience.”
We loved Kara and Joel’s classic black & white decor. Their theme incorporated Frank Sinatra as their main inspiration. Their centerpieces were vintage cigar boxes filled with beautiful florals and they even had a Frank Sinatra impersonator singing during dinner and serenading the couple’s first dance.
From the bride on another of her favorite parts of the day:
“I also loved hearing our daughter, Jaclyn, give our speech. It was completely from the heart and what I felt wasn’t your average “make fun of the bride/groom” speech.”
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Sellentine! You two are so beautiful together and we loved sharing and capturing your day!
Adam and Betsey’s wedding day was full of fun and laughs! We had such a great time with them and their wedding party in Plymouth.
Downtown Plymouth has a lot of cool buildings and areas to photograph around. The Penn Theatre made for some pretty fun photos with the wedding party.
From the bride on her favorite part of the day:
“It so hard to choose! But I will have to say it was probably when it was just the two of us getting our pictures taken at the golf course, there was so mucb of the day where we were around so many people it was nice to be able to have a few moments as just the two of us.”
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Baitinger! You two are so adorable together and we’re so happy we got to capture your special memories!
Mark and Beth are a GORGEOUS couple- on the inside and out! They were married at the Leap of Faith Barn, a lovely venue in Holly, Michigan that has tons of beautiful landscape surrounding it.
Unexpected rain changed the ceremony from outdoors to inside the barn, but it was still dreamy and full of love! From the groom on some of his favorite parts of the day:
“(My favorite parts of the day were) Beth walking up to the barn before the ceremony in the rain with a black umbrella. Lifting her up after our ceremony/first kiss where they pronounced us husband and wife…”
Everything about Mark and Beth’s day was rustic and beautiful and their reception decor fit the theme to the tee! We loved their uses of tree bark, all of the baby’s breath and the awesome wood-burned Michigan coasters guests took home as favors. These two showed love for their home state in so many awesome ways!
Cocktail hour consisted of build-your-own mini coney dogs and bags of Better Made potato chips, another awesome Michigan touch Mark and Beth added to their day.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Bohlen!
We loved sharing your day with you and had so much fun!
